But how do you determine whether an organization is legitimate?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">RED FLAGS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch out for these scam signs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Requests for unneeded personal information such as your Social Security number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pressure to donate immediately<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can&#8217;t verify the organization\u2019s name, address, and website yourself<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DO THE RESEARCH<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the IRS Tax-Exempt Organization Search (TEOS) tool to find information about the charity&#8217;s tax-exempt status and if the charity is eligible for tax deductible donations.
